Microblogging is a web service that allows the subscriber to broadcast short messages to other subscribers of the service. Microposts can be made public on a Web site and/or distributed to a private group of subscribers. Subscribers can read microblog posts online or request that updates be delivered in real time to their desktop as an instant message or sent to a mobile device as an SMS text message.
The appeal of microblogging is both its immediacy and portability. Posts are brief (typically 140 – 200 characters) and can be written or received with a variety of computing devices, including cell phones. Although most microblog broadcasts are posted as text, some microblogging services allow video or audio posts.
Microblogging is slowly moving into the mainstream. In the United States, for example, Presidential candidate Barack Obama microblogged from the campaign trail using Twitter, one of the most popular microblogging services. Traditional media organizations, including The New York Times and the BBC, have begun to send headlines and links in microblog posts. Other potential applications of microblogging include traffic and sports updates and emergency broadcast systems and library systems too.

Have you heard of the word ?microblog??yet? Chances are, you will…soon. Microblogging is the erstwhile form of talking on the telephone, of reading celebrity gossip, of sending e-mails, and of constantly changing Facebook status. Microblogging is changing the way we live.
In a nutshell, microblogging (also known in its hyphenated form: micro-blogging) is an Internet-based communication that is distinctive for its short and constant messaging. Usually, a microblogger joins a microblogging site (see below for the options), gathers a group of fellow micro-bloggers around him who ?follow? him, and periodically changes his ?blog? to reflect what he is doing.

Microblogs like Twitter allow for a very immediate communication that requires less of a commitment than a regular blog. A 500 word blog post might take a few hours to write, whereas a 140 character long Twitter update only takes a few minutes. The interaction between Twitter users is also more explicit than is typical for blogs, creating a distributed conversation that at best can be thought of as a hive mind.

So, today a made a dicision. My main research deal with microblogs in the library. I try to dig deep in this theme. How does it works? How can we use it in the library of future? Why is it good for?
It sounds very interesting. I am curious too.

I believe that the Web 3.0 browser will act like a personal assistant. Why?
- Because as you search the Web, the browser learns what you are interested in. The more you use the Web, the more your browser learns about you and the less specific you’ll need to be with your questions. Eventually you might be able to ask your browser open questions like “where should I go for lunch?” Your browser would consult its records of what you like and dislike, take into account your current location and then suggest a list of restaurants.

Web 3.0 will use a three dimensional model and transform it into a series of 3D spaces. Services such as Second Life and the use of personalized avatars will be a common feature of the 3D web. Web 3.0 will extend beyond into the physical; imagine a Web connected to everything not only your cellphone but your car, microwave and clothes, thus truly making for an integrated experience.
